Three museum expositions

Leonardo da Vinci

The first exposition of the museum is dedicated to the great Italian scientist and artist, citizen of Milan (1st and 2nd floor rooms); she talks about Leonardo's life, studies and inventions during his stay at the court of the Dukes of Sforza. For the first time Leonardo is presented to the audience as a teacher of fine arts; his most valuable works on this subject are collected in the famous "Treatise on Painting."

Original or copy?

The second exposition (halls 7-10 of the first floor) is devoted to how to learn to distinguish originals from copies and counterfeits. Here you can conduct real experiments that will help to identify and distinguish genuine antiques from fakes: furniture, paintings, icons, ceramics and archeological finds, teach to establish the identity and dating of wooden objects. The scientific laboratory (halls 3a and 3b) is open to collectors collecting art.

Non-European art

This is one of the most important expositions in Italy devoted to Negro art. There are more than 300 exhibits with a high historical value, clearly telling about the life of African tribes (masks of household items, ritual accessories).

The Buddhist art (150 interesting and valuable exhibits) is also represented at the exhibition.

The museum is literally located a stone's throw from Castle Castello Sforzesco (on Quintino Sela Street, 4, Monday to Friday 10:00 - 18:00)
