- In 1973, the construction of the World Trade Center was completed, its northern tower reached 526 m in height and was the tallest building in Manhattan. After the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the highest building in Manhattan was again the Empire State Building.
- Today, on the site of the World Trade Center in memory of the victims of September 11, 2001, the Tower of Freedom (or the World Trade Center I) is being built - today the world's tallest building. The design height of the building is 541 m.
