Key West is a popular beach resort and the capital of the Florida Keys archipelago, located on the island of the same name. A real tropical paradise, where even on harsh police cars it is written that they are guarding its gates - "protecting paradise."
It's almost round-the-clock cruise ships with tourists come. But the most part, of course, comes on land. Whom only you will not meet in this city! And poor students, and retired pensioners, and Princess of Monaco and even Madonna herself, who is very fond of visiting this island city.

A bit of history
Once Key West was an incredibly rich city: the local people lived by collecting the shipwrecked ships' shipwrecks. It was in 1889, and in 1930 Key West was declared bankrupt. But those times have long passed, and now the inhabitants of the city live only on the money that tourists leave here. The latter, I must say, do not stint, and round-the-clock sums are put out for rest in a paradise corner.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions Key West
In the city an incredible number of art galleries. The most famous and visited is the fairly prosaically named Key West Gallery. Here you can find the works of many famous authors, as well as those who are just starting their creative path.
But still the most famous landmark of the city is a buoy model, which is built of cement. On this buoy, in large letters, the following is written: "Republic of Conch / To Cuba 90 miles / The southernmost point of the continental US / Key West, Florida / Where there is a sunset." Before the buoy there was a sign, but it was often abducted by tourists, so the city authorities decided to write these words meaningful to the city on a cement buoy, which certainly no one can move.
Museums of Key West
The most popular museum of the city has a much more romantic name than the gallery is the Shipwreck Museum. At first glance, the original wooden building can only be called a museum with a big stretch.
Here the actors of the local theater, dressed in the costumes of the 19th century, play the real sea battles in front of the audience. And on the very roof of the museum there is an observation deck, which in its day every day the inhabitants of the city took turns and climbed up and looked at the ocean, awaiting shipwreck. When it finally happened, the one who watched on the platform in all his throat shouted that the ship was sinking, and that it was time to go rob it. Raspberry, not life!
Fort Zachary-Taylor
Another great place in the city is the National Historical Park of Fort Zakari-Taylor. Here you can see the real ghosts of pirates who, like all pirates, are arguing about who owns the chest of gold.
Hemingway House
It is impossible to visit Key West and not to visit the famous writer Ernest Hemingway - the most famous resident of the city, and the whole archipelago. He came here out of curiosity, and stayed to live by buying a small house with a garden.
Interesting Facts
Key West is also the center of sexual minorities. Homosexual couples are very common here, and no one pays any attention to them. Everyone treats this as something that is also part of the city.
And what are the people doing here? Practically, nothing. They hang around the city all day, sit back and have fun. That's why it seems that time in Key West froze and just stands still. And people who live here are incredibly slow. So do not be surprised that your order in a cafe or restaurant tourist will have to wait not 5 minutes, and half an hour, and sometimes even more.
