Sterling Castle, the first mention of which dates back to the 12th century, majestically rises on top of an extinct volcano in the region of Sterling. From the architectural and historical point of view, the castle was one of the most significant in Scotland. The steep cliffs surrounding the castle strengthen his defensive position. In this castle were crowned several Scottish kings and queens, including Maria Stewart in 1543.
The numerous sieges that he had to endure left a mark on his powerful walls. Recreate the atmosphere of the Middle Ages in the castle is not necessary: many of its premises have not changed for several centuries, and the road to the castle goes along a street consisting of ancient houses. The dashes of modern life - cars, road signs, signs only emphasize the age of the castle.
