Istanbul Lale Festivali is held every spring. Annually in April, Istanbul becomes the tulip capital of the world. In 2014 the festival will open on April 1 and will last until April 30. Flowers are specially planted so that they bloom for a month, changing each other: more than 120 varieties, including early and late varieties.

The main venue of the festival is the park Emirgan, on the Bosphorus, located far from the center of Istanbul. For example, last year, for the festival in Istanbul, only 12.5 million bulbs of tulips were planted, of which 2.5 million are in the park of Emirgan
