Traveling around the island
Taxi on Koh Samui is quite expensive, besides, comrades drivers have long ceased to bargain.
The best solution for active tourists is the rental of motobike (from 150 Baht per day) or auto (from 800). Owners prefer a passport as a deposit, it is also recommended to check the serviceability of the moto-auto, in order to avoid further disagreements.
Beaches Samui
The best beaches are on the east coast, but from October to January the sea there is a lot of dangers. During the low tide, which, fortunately, happens very rarely, there is a terrible drought on the beaches.
The best beach of the island is Chaweng on the east coast. These are picturesque bays, beaches with fine sand, crystal clear water and a slight deviation to the sea. The longest (6 km) and the most beautiful beach of the island offers a huge selection of hotels from five-star resorts to simple bamboo bungalows. During the daytime, Chaweng is a center for water sports such as windsurfing and aquabike, and at night it turns into a large dance arena.
Almost the entire northern coast of Koh Samui occupies three cozy bays. In the west is Bophut - the only beach on the island where tourists and "local" live as neighbors, and you can talk about a special local color. Even further to the west stretches Maenam - the beach, where luxury hotels side by side with the hippie colony. The sand on these beaches is yellowish and larger than on the east coast, and the beaches themselves are much more modest.
Beaches of the south and west coast: very secluded, not connected by the ring road of the island, but you can get there without difficulty. The sea on Laem Set is probably not deep enough for swimming. Nevertheless, the huge smooth boulders on the beach and the coconut palms bent under the bizarre corners make this beach irresistible. In the south-east of the island is Hat Taling Ngam beach, whose sandy long beaches are always deserted and are an ideal place for beach walks.
In the northern part of the bay there is a luxurious hotel-resort Ban Taling Ngam Resort, which has several swimming pools and villas built on elevations and hills with beautiful views of the beach
Entertainment, excursions and attractions
Hin-Ta and Hin Yai (literally "Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks") are located on the southern tip of Lamai Beach - a very popular place in tourist in . No, no dramatic or even instructive history is associated with them: gay Thai people named the rocks just because of their striking similarity with the genitals . Attracts the charming Namtok waterfall on Mueang, which has two levels: the nearest to the road - about 20 meters high . Nearby there is a beautiful natural pool where you can swim . From here also depart tracks and routes for watching elephants .
The local aquarium presents a collection of tropical fish, and in the "Tiger zoo "can be seen s Bengal tigers and leopards. With the Buddhist sights on the island full order: there is a temple Laem Sor with the pagoda Laem Sor, a 12-meter Buddha statue on the mountain, and in the temple of Wat Khunaram Koh Samui even has its own mummified monk. The mummy sits in a glass box, and the faithful bring her flowers and incense.
HaThon is the main city and port of the island, located on the west coast. Here you can buy the necessary beach accessories, extend your visa or just watch the port life while sitting in one of the cafes.
Other popular excursions: to Koh Tao Island (also known as diving) to Koh Tao Island and Koh Tao Island, crocodile farm and show, transvestite show, butterfly park, snake farm, Hin-Lat waterfall

From here you can enjoy fantastic views of Ko-Vua Talap. Excursions around the park include a visit to a secluded lagoon on Ko-Mae-Ko, as well as the opportunity to go on sea kayaks around quaint limestone formations. Night life
A full night life is found at two main resorts - Chaweng and Lamai. In the area of Chaweng Beach on the main street are all the famous shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities of the island. For example, the disco "Green mango" and the bar "Reggie pub". There is also the best Irish pub of the island - "The Tropic of Murphy". On a particularly hot evening it is worth visiting the "Ice Bar" - it's much larger than in Pattaya.
