The main resort of the Swiss Riviera, Montreux, rises as amphitheater on the shores of Lake Leman. Edwardian city with a pleasant French accent has long become a refuge for foreigners, in particular, it was here that our compatriot, writer Vladimir Nabokov once settled.

Montreux is known for its mild climate and Mediterranean vegetation abundant in many city parks. The mountains surrounding the city protect it from the winter winds, allowing fruit trees, cypresses, magnolias, laurels, almonds and even palm trees to grow from year to year.

Although the holiday season in Montrea lasts all year, the city is most crowded in the summer, when the big traffic even makes travel difficult.

With the increase in the influx of foreign tourists recently, many of the main Montreux hotels have significantly improved the quality of the services provided. Unfortunately, the prices for accommodation are high and comfortable cheap housing is not enough. Therefore, if you want to visit Montreux and not spend a lot, it's cheaper to look for accommodation in Vevey.
