Segovia lies on a rocky hill 90 km north-west of Madrid. It is one of the oldest cities in Spain, founded by the Romans in 90 BC. e. Segovia is relatively small, so the concentration of historical monuments here is simply outstanding - almost the entire old part of Segovia is a large open-air museum. Therefore, it is not surprising that since 1985 the historical center of Segovia is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In addition, the city should pay attention to two elegant Catholic monasteries: Santa Cruz la Real, founded in 1218, and El Parral (1447). The first long time belonged to the Order of Dominicans, in 1836 it was requisitioned and today its walls became a refuge for students and the University. The second, El Parral, was founded by Juan de Pacheco, the Marquis de Vilena, in several styles: Gothic, Mudejar and Plateresque, which were marvelously entwined in its architecture. The original appearance was created thanks to the architect Juan Guas.
