The first steps in the theatrical history of Vologda date back to the 18th century , when the first similarities of the performances were staged by students of the local theological seminary. Vologda State Drama Theater is the oldest of the city theaters and one of the country's oldest theaters - the Vologda Order of the Badge of Honor, the State Drama Theater, founded in 1849. . It was founded in 1937 by the then artistic director of the Vologda Young Spectators Theater. "Our Theater" was established in Vologda in 2009 .Vsevolod Chubenko - an actor, multiple Grand Prix winner and numerous laureate of Russian and international theater festivals .In addition to acting, Vsevolod Chubenko is a developer, scriptwriter and host of creative events dedicated to popularizing the best samples of Vologda literature, for which he was awarded the Medal "Enlightener of Education" of the Academy of Russian Literature in 2000 .The repertoire of "His Theater" - theatrical productions and musical performances of small form in a chamber atmosphere .

The initiator of the creation of the Youth Experimental Theater Studio "Sonnet" in Vologda was the head of the city Yevgeny Shulepov in 2011. Initially three courses were planned: "Actor of Drama", "The Art of Speech" and "Actor of Variety", but the variety department was not in demand, but a new direction arose: "The actor of the original genre and the presenter." Later, there was a set for an additional group with children from 7 to 13 years old.

the children's variety theater "Sofit" has a curious story: first in Vologda the children's variety theater "Mowgli" was founded, based on the base of secondary school No. 22 in 1989. Already in 1991 he was awarded the title "Model art collective" - ​​"for creative successes , a multifaceted and fruitful work on the aesthetic and moral education of children and adolescents. The young actor's theater started in 1999 .as a school-drama art studio .In the competitive selection, four people took part, and the jury of the acting actors, directors, musicians and choreographers of the Vologda theaters selected the most worthy .Five years of training lasted, after which the leaders together with the pupils organized the Young Actor Theater, which exists to this day .And the Theater is very popular in the city, has repeatedly participated (and won) in the theater festivals of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities .
