Gelendzhik Museum of History and Local History
Gelendzhik, ul. Ostrovskogo, d. 1 Gelendzhik Museum of History and Local History recently celebrated its 100th anniversary - it happened in 2009. For 105 years of its existence the museum has experienced much, its history is very interesting and is fascinating.
But there are a lot of antiquities here, as well as monuments that will undoubtedly interest cultural lovers. This is the ancient dolmens and caves, where traces of the presence of primitive people are found, it is the most beautiful embankment of Gelendzhik, it is religious constructions - majestic temples and cathedrals of the city. But you should talk about the museums of the resort separately. Some of them are devoted to history, others to ethnography, and some to the natural world.
The first in the list is the Gelendzhik Historical and Regional Museum, in whose composition includes several exposures located in different parts of the resort. There are also halls devoted to the history and way of life of people who lived in the territory of Gelendzhik earlier and halls dedicated to the natural features of the region - with ornithological and entomological collections
Also worthy of attention is the Mikhailovsky fortification museum complex, dedicated to the events of the Caucasian war of the 19th century. It is built on the fortified fortified walls of the Mikhailovsky Pass, a defensive fortress was also recreated. There is also an Ethnographic Museum with expositions of paleontology, the ancient period, the Middle Ages, the Caucasian War, etc.
If you are more interested in contemporary art, you should go to the gallery with the interesting name "White Horse" or to the Gallery of Art Glass. The main idea of the "White Horse", founded in 2006, is the formation of ecological consciousness, careful attitude to the environment, the transformation of waste (old things, packaging, disposable tableware) into real works of art. And in the Art Glass Gallery you can not only admire the extensive collection, but also buy the souvenirs you like.
No man, perhaps, will not pass by the Museum of retro cars, which opened in June 2014 in the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka. Machines here are not too many, but there are even models of the 30s. You should also visit the Museum of Bread and Wine, where you will be told a lot of interesting facts - for example, where did samovar originate from.
In addition to the existing museums in Gelendzhik, new objects are being designed and being created that will soon be available for visiting.
