Sergiev Posad is famous in Russia and beyond its borders for its sacred places. Near the village of Smena, about six kilometers from the laurels, there is a remarkable spiritual place of Sergiev Posad - a desert in honor of the Holy Spirit Paraklita.
The main attraction of the city is the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Now on the territory of the monastery there are constructions of very different time (there are more than 50 of them all). At the station square of Sergiev Posad in 1999, a monument to Savva Ivanovich Mamontov was opened - an industrialist, patron of art who actively supported art, theater and music and lived in the Abramtsevo manor, 15 km from the city.
A lot of interesting can be found in the surroundings of Sergiev Posad, if you move a little from the city center. So, for example, three kilometers to the southeast of the Lavra is the Gethsemane Chernigov Skete, which was not inferior to Lavra in the time of the number of pilgrims.
Another monastery of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra - Desert St. Paraklita - is in the same direction near the village of Smena. The desert was founded in 1858, and in 1860 the Church of the Holy Spirit of the Comforter (Paraklita) was erected here, preserved to this day together with the gate bell tower built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

On the northern outskirts of Sergiev Posad is located with. Deulino, which went down in history as the place where in 1618 a peace treaty was concluded between Poland and Russia. The church, erected in memory of this event, was not preserved. But in its place is now another ancient church (1850-1853).

In the Semkhoz micro-district, the chapel-temple of the "Beheading of John the Baptist" was installed at the place of the death of the priest Alexander I. Later, an altar and a belfry were added to it, and a temple of the Monk Sergiy was erected nearby.
Among the natural attractions in the vicinity of Sergiev Posad is the Gremyachy waterfall 14 km away from the town near the village of Vzglyadnevo. According to legend, the waterfall appeared according to the prayer of St. Sergius, in memory of this at the crevice, from which water beats, a chapel is built. Water is attributed to medicinal properties.
