The history of the estate Serednikovo is very interesting and fascinating. Here lived and visited many famous people. But to a greater extent Serednikovo is connected, of course, with the name of Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov. But first things first.
Since 1623, the land on which the manor is located today belonged to Prince Nikita Cherkassky and his descendants. After 150 years, Senator Vsevolod Vsevolozhsky was already in charge here. It was he who created the main architectural ensemble in Serednikovo. In 1825, the estate was purchased by Major General Dmitry Stolypin, the brother of Lermontov's grandmother Elizaveta Arsenieva.
As a teenager, Mikhail Lermontov came here for the summer holidays in 1829-32 .In Serednikovo youth liked to walk, ride a boat, read, write poetry and translate .The poet was simply in love with Serednikovo, he liked this place so much .A lot of young people came here on vacation, they all knew each other and, of course, were friends .This could not but be reflected in the poet's work .Young Mikhail for the first time seriously fell in love exactly in the estate .He was captivated by the beautiful Ekaterina Sushkova, who did not think to pay attention to the ardent boy .So there was a "Sushkov" cycle of Lermontov's love lyrics, consisting of 11 poems .
A little later, in the 60s of the 19th century, the future statesman Petr Stolypin often visited the estate .Already in 1869 the owner was again replaced - Serednikovo for 75 thousand rubles was purchased by the Moscow merchant Ivan Firsanov .It is worth noting that he was a very enterprising person and immediately decided to benefit from the estate .He sold a nearby forest for cutting down and returned to himself the money spent on buying the farm .Further, the antique furniture went with a hammer - for it the owner received 45 thousand rubles .Subsequently, the estate owned by the daughter of a merchant - Vera Firsanova .She did a lot for Serednikovo .For example, it was by Vera Ivanovna's decision that a bronze bust of Lermontov was installed and a plafond was painted in one of the halls of the estate on the theme of the poem "Demon" .At Firsanova Serednikovo became a true cultural center .Here Fedor Shalyapin, Sergei Rachmaninov and many other musicians visited and gave concerts .The frequent visitor was the artist Valentin Serov .
After the revolution of 1917 Serednikovo was nationalized. Two years later Vladimir Lenin spent his vacations there. A little later in the building of the estate was organized a sanatorium for nervous patients. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, the TB sanatorium "Mtsyri" was opened here.
At the end of the 20th century Serednikovo did not look the best. However, in 1992, the association "Lermontov Heritage" began the restoration of the complex. It should be noted that this organization is headed by the full namesake of the poet - Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov. This is his grand-nephew. To date, in Serednikovo almost everything has been restored, and the manor constantly receives tourists from all over the world.
