How to get to Ples

Cathedral Mountain - the oldest part of the city, its height is 70 meters, it was here that Basil the Dark and founded the city in 1410, having built a wooden fortress that has not survived to this day. One of the most famous inhabitants of Plyos is the artist Isaak Levitan, he was not a native of the city, however, having visited Plyos at the age of 27, he was so fascinated that he lived here for several years, constantly painting local landscapes. The Peter and Paul Mountains on the other side of the river from Sobornaya are now called - the mountain of Levitan. Standing on her earlier chapel of the 16th century, the artist depicted in his painting "Above Eternal Peace". In 1903, the chapel burnt down and now in its place is an old wooden Resurrection Church (1699), transported here from the village of Biryukovo.
