How to get to Alexandrov
Suburban trains from Moscow (from Yaroslavl station) or a passenger train Moscow - Yaroslavl. Travel time 2, 5-3 hours. From Ivanovo: one commuter train early in the morning and two long-distance trains at night, en route 5 hours. All three trains make stops in Kolchugino and Yuryev-Polsky. From Yaroslavl, there are two trains (4 hours) and two express trains (to Moscow, 2, 5 hours) every day.

A bit of history
Halfway from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra to Pereslavl-Zalessky, there was a settlement that was called Great, or Old Sloboda. At the beginning of the 16th century, near Velikaya Sloboda, a large village called Novaya, or Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda, grew up. It gained wide popularity, becoming for a whole 17 years the uncrowned capital of Russia. Hence Ivan the Terrible ruled the country, from here in 1569 committed punitive expeditions to Tver, Torzhok, Klin, Novgorod and Pskov. Here in a fit of anger the king killed his son Ivan.
But Sloboda went down in history not only as a "bloody hail" .Here lived and created the best icon painters and architects, the country's first provincial press was opened .In Alexandrovskaya Sloboda, the first conservatory in Russia was founded, where the best musicians and singers were delivered by the tsar's decree from the whole country .After the Tsar's departure to Moscow, life in Sloboda froze .Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda for a long time turned into an ordinary "royal village" .Gradually, its buildings and fortifications began to fall into disrepair .Today's Alexandrov is a small city in the heart of the Golden Ring, about 70 thousand people live in it .

The Alexandrovskaya Sloboda Museum-Reserve, the Alexandrovsky Art Museum, the Alexandrovsky Literary and Art Museum of Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva, the Assumption and Intercession Cathedral (XVI century), the Crucifixion Church-belltower (XVI century), the Intercession Tent Church (XVI century), the Assumption Church (XVI century), the Church of the Sretens (XVII century).
Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda
Sloboda, also known as the Alexander Kremlin, the oldest part of the city. Inside the most interesting architectural constructions of the city are concentrated: the Trinity Cathedral, the Intercession Church - the first stone tent church in Russia, the Crucifix Belltower, the Marfin Chambers and the Assumption Church.
The Alexandrova Sloboda Museum-Reserve is located at: Museum Lane, 20; tel .: (49244) 28-073 (information), 20-397 (booking excursions). Working hours: Tue-Sun 9: 00-17: 00, Fri 9: 00-16: 00. Entrance fee is 15-30 RUR for each exposition, ~ 150 RUR for a full inspection.
The museum includes seven expositions, as well as many "interactive excursions", which, according to the creators, should better acquaint visitors with the atmosphere of the ancient Alexander settlement.

Address: st. Soviet 16; Opening hours: 10: 00-17: 00. the weekend is Sunday, Monday. The museum's collection allows you to get an idea of the fine and decorative arts of the Alexandrovsky region at the end of the 19th and the 20th century.
Alexandrovsky Literary and Art Museum of Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva
Address: st. Institutskaya 6, building 2; Opening hours: 09: 30-17: 00; the weekend is Monday and Tuesday. This is the only literary museum in the region, so it is not limited to Tsvetaeva's theme: Adelaide and Yevgenia Gertsyky, Anatoly Marchenko, Sergei Elpatievsky, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Count Dmitry Khvostov, Hungarian classic Jozef Lendel, history and culture of the 101st kilometer. For each visitor of the museum there is an excursion.
