Kovrov interestingly combines the features of an ancient Russian city and a modern industrial center. His history dates back to the time of Yuri Dolgorukov and Andrei Bogolyubsky, and the status of the city of Kovrov was given under Catherine II. Today, the city on the high bank of the Klyazma is famous for its defense industry and heavy engineering, textile production and motorcycles, as well as a carpet clay toy, a craft revived here recently, but already worthy of people's love.

Entertainment, excursions and sightseeing Kovrova
It is most convenient to start a city tour from the railway station, from Abelman Street, which leads to the historic part of the city. The first of the sights is a monument to VA Degtyarev, an outstanding small arms designer. Not far from the monument is the building of the historical and local history museum, from which the street. Degtyarev can go to the city park. AS Pushkin - a small and rather neglected. On its territory there is a necropolis, where famous residents of the city are buried.
Temples of Kovrov
From the park, Pershutova Street leads to the Nativity Cathedral. A stone church was built at the end of the 17th century, and the first, a wooden church on this site, dates back to the XI century. In the 30 years of the XX century the cathedral was partially destroyed, to the 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Rus completely restored.
Another of the verticals of the panorama of Kovrov - the Savior's Transfiguration Cathedral - was erected by 1884 at the expense of the city's residents, of red brick and white stone, the development of which was actively conducted in Kovrov (the Carpet stone was used in the construction of the temples of Suzdal and Vladimir).
Klyazmensky Gorodok
In 14 km to the north-west from Kovrov there is a village Klyazmensky Gorodok. At the site of a modern settlement in 1152, Yuri Dolgorukov founded the city of Starodub-on-Klyazma, as a stronghold on the outskirts of Vladimir. Passed from hand to hand the principality, it was eventually completely burnt in troubled times. Starodub was revived in the form of the Klyazmen town only in the beginning of the XIX century, in 1803 the Pokrovskaya church was built here with a 40-meter bell tower.

In the house-museum of V.A. Degtyaryov (Degtyarev Street, 6-a) the designer lived since 1924. The interior of the rooms and workshop was recreated in the house, where he manually saw out the details of the tools, all the items were genuine.
The museum of hares is located in the city library of family reading (Griboedova St., 117). The impetus for its creation was the hares depicted on the coat of arms of the city. In the museum, "live" more than 700 eared inhabitants - the smallest, glass, about 15 mm in size, the largest - soft, growing from a three-year-old baby.
