Add a review about the airport of Warsaw

Frederic Chopin Airport is in Warsaw. Its territory has been used by airmen since 1910, and the first airport was built here in 1927. During the Second World War, it was completely destroyed. The new complex of airport buildings was opened in 1969. In Poland, it is the largest airport, it serves about 70% of all flights in the country.

Flights are performed by many airlines from around the world, including the national Russian air carrier Aeroflot. The airport has two runways. There are three operating terminals in the airport, they are working at the limit of their capacities, so now another terminal is being built, but it is assumed that part of the passenger traffic will be taken by the new Berlin airport Berlin Brandenburg.

The airport is spacious, but compact: "labyrinths" on its there are no territories, but when doing the docking, you should remember that in the transit zone you will have to undergo air safety control, which can take time.

Infrastructure

For the convenience of passengers there are recreation areas, exchange points, ATMs, information points for tourists, a free complex of rooms for mother and child, catering establishments with a good menu (transit zone is a sad exception - public catering here it is represented purely symbolically). Has an airport and lounges for VIPs. The airport's shopping area is quite extensive, including duty-free shops, but the gastronomic assortment here is poor.

In terminal 1, with which all international flights dock, there is a information desk (from 8 am to 8 pm May-September, from 8 morning until 6 pm October-April) where you can buy a map of the city and get all the necessary information about car reservations, rooms or museum hours. In addition, there are 24-hour currency exchange offices, ATMs, several rent-a-car offices and a luggage room (one baggage per 24 hours 5 zł). Tickets for public transport to the city center can be purchased at the Ruch office (from 5 am to 10 pm)

The upper floor of Terminal 1 has sheltered the international departures hall where you can find a post office, a bank (8-18 mon- 13 sat), airlines' racks. Budget airlines arrive at Terminal 1 and 2 - these are Wizz, Germanwings, Ryanair, EasyJet and SkyEurope. The second terminal has recently been renovated, so now it is very comfortable there.

How to get here

You can get to the city center from the airport by bus No. 175 or No. 188, at night - No. 611. Of course, you can use the taxi service which is better to call by phone. Or by buses Polski Express, which start from the central railway station, stop Al Jana Pawła II. Tickets can be bought at their office in front of the stop (6.30-21.30)

In addition, many Warsaw hotel chains have their own shuttle bus, which delivers guests to and from the airport. In preparation for Euro 2012, an Aeroexpress from the airport to the city center will be launched, which will be integrated into the city transport system and make the message with the airport even more convenient.
