Kitchen
The basis of most dishes is goat meat and ham with a side dish of rice or beans. In Jamaican cuisine, seafood is often used, marinated and fried with pepper and onions. And one of the most popular dishes is "jerk" - pickled meat cooked on the fire, which is fired with the help of the plant "pimento", also known as "Jamaican pepper": it is his smoke that gives the dish a special flavor.
It is worth to try the juice from exotic fruits, tea with rum, milk, spices and even fish, the world-famous Jamaican coffee "Blue Mountain", and also drink coconut milk directly from the nut.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of White House Bay
The resort has a single hotel, Sandals Whitehouse, built in the style of a Caribbean village.
A 20-minute drive from Montego Bay is the Rockland Wildlife Sanctuary, which was opened in 1959 by Lisa Salmon, a famous Jamaican ornithologist. The reserve represents a sort of a trough, over which thousands float tiaris, saffron finches and hummingbirds, and in the reserve grow flowers with a marvelous aroma.
South of Montego Bay, near the Black River in one of the most beautiful valleys in Jamaica, the Nassau Valley, is the Appleton estate, where rum has been manufactured since 1749. Now there is the Rum Distillery on the estate, where you can see the details of the distillation process from sugarcane, molasses, sugar, to wine and rum, as well as to taste the product itself - the world-famous rum "Appleton".
You can go on an excursion to the Windsor Great Cave 3,000 meters long, located in Trelawny County on the north coast of Jamaica. The World Wildlife Fund "WWF" (Great Britain) owns the caves, and there are about 12 species of bats, invertebrates including stems, as well as fungal mosquitoes, spider-troglobionts that lack pigmentation of body covers, and American cockroaches
