My friend and I (both 20 years old) are planning a trip to Jamaica - a few days in Kingston and a few - in Montego Bay. All friends are trying to dissuade us because of a zero level of security. I will be grateful to you for describing the situation on the island.

Your fears are not grounded. Yes, in both Kingston and Montego Bay there are ghetto areas. But you would not advise a visiting African-American tourist to wander at night in Golyanovo in Moscow? Similarly, I do not recommend you to walk at night, do not sit in a taxi, go somewhere with locals. In the resort areas, without showing your financial condition, you will feel safe.
As for Kingston, I honestly do not understand what is interesting for the tourist, and I advise you to spend more time on the northern coast of Jamaica. Yes, and remember that despite the information on our Internet that the drugs in Jamaica are legal and that the police are turning a blind eye to the use of marijuana, does not mean that tourists can not spend their holidays, and also extend it in local government institutions.
Have a good trip!

In compliance with the standard rules of personal safety, everything will be with you in the
order. The hotels have security, in most hotels the guard is also present on the
beach, so you do not have to worry about your safety.
It's not recommended to go to Kingston on your own. If you are planning to visit Kingston, we strongly recommend that you take an excursion from the official travel agents at the hotel
