Museum complex of Villa Borghese

This museum, which has a relatively small but very rich collection of Italian art, is located in the villa. Today the museum complex is considered not only the same building of the Cardinal Scipio Borghese with the gallery and the surrounding park, but also the National Gallery of Modern Art, and the National Etruscan Museum in Villa Giulia.

National Gallery of Modern Art

The National Gallery of Modern Art (Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna at Contemporanea) is housed in a palace structure of the early 20th century and includes around five thousand exhibits of Roman art from 1800 onwards, including the works of Claude Monet, Vittorio Corcos, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, François Auguste René Rodin, Edgar Degas and many others.

The gallery is open on weekdays from 8:30 to 19:00, Sunday from 9:00 to 13:30, closed on Monday. The ticket price is 4 EUR.

National Etruscan Museum Villa Julia

The National Etruscan Museum in Villa Julia (Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia) is located in the building of the former summer residence of the Roman papacy of the 16th century, built for Pope Julius III (hence the name). Until now, only this building, a small part of the papal residence, has been preserved. The museum was founded in 1889 - there were antique finds from Lazio, Umbria and Etruria relating to Etruscan art. Then the collection was replenished with samples of Etruscan art and household items.

This museum is open daily from 8:30 to 19:30, except Mondays, January 1 and December 25. It is not allowed to carry out video and photography, the ticket price is 4 EUR, for pensioners and students - 2 EUR.

Borghese Park

Keep in mind that Borghese is one of the most extensive parks in the city: 6 km in circumference. To get around it on foot, it will take almost the whole day. But be assured: this day will pass not in vain! You will get acquainted with numerous works of art, see funny animals in the biopark, have fun at attractions, ride a horse, and maybe even see real jumps.

They say that somewhere in the villa even the monuments to Pushkin and Gogol were lost.

In the park you can rent a bicycle or segway (10 EUR for 30 minutes). And all those who wish can ride a boat on a picturesque lake, in the middle of which stands a temple with a unique water clock.

Relax in Roman. November 27, 2014

Of course, as a city resident in Moscow, the park in Rome did not surprise me very much. But at the same time, after a long walk along the noisy central streets and squares crowded with tourists, I was pleasantly surprised. We were very lucky that there was good warm weather and a pleasant pre-break period of the day. This is very important for walking in the park! The park is, of course, large-scale and at the same time very quiet and majestic. Here you can sit quietly, just relaxing and watching, you can find a place quite secluded and read. Atmosphere ... To appreciate the ancient beauty and a special aura of the park Borghese Gardens, I advise you to allocate more time for this event. To leisurely take a walk in your pleasure, admire the nature, views, objects. If you are "on good terms" with a bicycle, then there is no better way to get full pleasure from such a walk and get to know Borghese's gardens. That's exactly what we did and did not regret it for a second. Bicycles can be hired at Piazza del Popolo ... Read full review

An attraction that really deserves attention. In Borghese Park I really enjoyed it, not only because of the perfectly clean air, but also because of lakes, green spaces and an amazing Italian atmosphere. This park is divided in English style and is the third largest public park in Rome. There are a lot of highlights that deserve attention. To begin with, I visited the Borghese Gallery, an art collection of the princely family of Borghese, which is exhibited in a building on the territory of ... Read full review

Villa Borghese occupies a rather large space and is located away from the city center. So if you want to visit it, you will have to plan this trip in advance. It is easily accessible from Piazza del Popolo. The entrance is free, only closed for the night.
Actually, Villa Borghese is a huge park with various buildings. On its territory is the art gallery Borghese, which attracts most of the tourists here. Villa is also popular with local residents. Here is ... Read full review
