Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, or Fiumicino Airport, is Italy's largest air hub. Its name was given in honor of the great artist Leonardo da Vinci. But since the air harbor is located in the town of Fiumicino, the name turned out to be double. The airport dates back to 1961. At that time the capacity of the airport Ciampino was not enough, and in return it was built a new air gate of the city. In Ciampino, however, domestic and charter flights were gradually transferred, and now it serves the low-cost airlines.
In Fiumicino, the main Italian carrier, Alitalia, is based. To date, the airport has four terminals - 1, 2, 3, 5. In the near future, it is waiting for changes. For example, it is planned to make a fully autonomous power supply.
