Mykonos is an island with beautiful nature and a fashionable bohemian resort. It is considered one of the most expensive in terms of recreation of the Greek islands, and the number of tourists with non-traditional orientation here clearly tends to show the Spanish Sitges. Local landscape: low rocky hills, windmills, snow-white houses and narrow streets, many churches, nudist tourists and azure sea.

Beaches of Mykonos
The island has a huge number of sandy beaches, most of them are on the south coast, best protected from the wind. The most famous among them is Platis Yialos with various types of water sports and Psaru with the center of scuba diving. It is worth remembering that in July and August they are becoming very crowded.
In the south of the island are the resorts of Agios Iannis (3 km south of the city of Mykonos), Ornos (2 km), Platis Yalos (3, 5 km), Psaru (3, 5 km), Paranga (5 km), Paradise 6 km), Super Paradise (7 km), Agrari (10 km) and Elia (10, 5 km).
Paradise and Super Paradise
Paradise and Super Paradise are famous nudist beaches. It is here that the famous nightclub "Cavo Paradiso" is opened, where one of the best techno parties in the open air is held.
Paradise, one of the most famous beaches of the island, attracts mainly young people: music is there all day and night, right on the beach are MTV screens, and at night the whole beach looks like one huge disco.
Super Paradise is the most popular gay beach in all of Greece. There are no shops on it and, despite the name, it is inferior in size to the beach of Paradise (apparently its "supersqueness" is something else). In short, this beach is less equipped, but equally noisy. The water there is clean, the entrance to the sea is deep. It's easiest to get there by boat.
On "just Paradise", in turn, excellent opportunities for water sports and diving center. In general, both beaches are entertainment and party centers, and not a place for prolonged bathing and acquiring an even tan.
Paranga
Another local beach, popular among young people (including - non-traditional orientation and lovers of sunbathing naked) - Paranga. A large and very beautiful sandy beach can be divided into two parts: southern, quieter, and northern, crowded and well-maintained. From here, you can reach the Paradise Beach in 5 minutes by boat or jet ski. In the season every day at exactly 5:00 pm the fruity parties in Kalua Beach Bar start here.
Platis Yalos and Psaru
Platis Yalos is a popular resort with several hotels, as well as a long and fully equipped beach. A bus leaves the capital every half hour. From Platis Yalos, boats leave for Paranga, Agraria, Elia, Paradise and Super Paradise. In the immediate vicinity of Platis Yalos there is a picturesque narrow sandy beach of Psaru, which attracts celebrities from all over the world. There is a cafe and a restaurant, as well as a diving center that offers various programs for beginners and dive safaris for experienced divers.
Agrari and Elia
Agrari is a quiet resort with a wide sandy beach for lovers of secluded rest. He is not as popular and crowded as his neighbor Elia (which is only 5 minutes walk), but much calmer. Elia is a long beach, also popular with gays and nudists. Many locals consider the beach surrounded by the rocks of Elia to be the best on the island. This opinion is shared by nudists, who have chosen his remote part. Several restaurants and tavernas are open on the beach, the water park is located nearby.
Ornos
The closest to the capital is the crowded beach of Ornos, on which a lot of married couples usually rest. It has diving, windsurfing and water skiing centers, several cafes and restaurants. In addition, Ornos - a gulf-closed bay in southern Mykonos with a beautiful sandy beach.
West of the island
In the west of the island are the resorts of Megali Ammos (700 m south of Mykonos), Turlus and Agios Stefanos (3 km to the north). On the beach of Megali Ammos in the high season, it is quite crowded and noisy, and Turlus and Agios Stefanos are quite small. All three beaches are sandy.
Kalafati and Leah
The beach of Calafati is suitable for lovers of outdoor activities: there is a rental of equipment for water sports, windsurfing and diving centers. And also deservedly popular restaurant with Greek cuisine and dishes from fresh seafood. Nearby is the tranquil Lia beach, only about 200 meters long.
Other beaches
The Gulf of Agios Ianis is considered by many to be the most beautiful on the island. It is a clean sandy beach with a quiet backwater, a view of the island of Dilos and a small white chapel.
At the site of the fishing village of Kalafatis one of the two ancient cities of Mykonos was once. This is one of the longest beaches of the island and also quite quiet. Nearby - a small and quiet sandy beach of Agia Anna.
On the north coast of the island too strong wind, so that its beaches are of interest mainly for windsurfing fans. The exception is the one hundred meter Panormas with beautiful sand dunes and sandy Agios Sostis.
Hotels in Mykonos
In Mykonos there are hotels of all categories, but the total number of hotels in the island is very small, so booking for the "high" season (July-August) is better for at least three months.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Mykonos
Curious tourists will have to taste the city of Mykonos - the administrative center of the island, the most famous area of which is Alefkandra ("Little Venice") with narrow picturesque streets and houses standing near the water. Next to the port is the Byzantine Church of the Virgin Paraportiani, the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museums. In the capital, there are unusually many churches (there are more than 350 churches on the island). Plus, of course, the visiting card of Mykonos: five old windmills.
Not far from the village of Ano-Mera is the monastery of the 18th century Tourlosskaya Bogoroditsa with a museum of church relics. A very interesting archaeological area is located in the area of the village of Delos, where you can go on an excursion from the island's capital. Also from Mykonos, excursions are sent to neighboring islands, including Santorini. Photo of Mykonos (19)
