How to get to Kavros
Taxi from the airport of Heraklion will cost around € 140, travel time - an hour and a half. Getting from Chania airport will be cheaper and faster - € 75 and 50 minutes.
Bus routes connect Kavros with Georgioupolis, Rethymno, Chania and Heraklion. The schedule is usually available at the reception desk of the hotel. There are car, moped and bicycle rental offices in the village.

Beaches of Kavros
Kavros is famous for its wide sandy beaches. Clean and shallow, they are suitable for rest of the whole family. The only drawback is the presence of waves, which are not uncommon in the open bay of the village. On the western border of the beaches is the Delphinas River, which carries its waters from Lake Kournas.
Shopping and restaurants
The necessary minimum - products, beach accessories, souvenirs can be bought in one of the three supermarkets of the village or street shops along the main road.
Try homemade green olives, seafood and other dishes according to traditional recipes can be in the tavern Gregoris, which, moreover, is distinguished by affordable prices. And in general, there is a universal principle: there are more local people in the tavern, the more delicious they feed there.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Kavrosa
Near the hotel Eliros Beach, in a street perpendicular to the National Road, a small zoo is organized, opposite it there is a children's playground. And next to the hotel Mythos Palace is the Turtle Bridge, from which you can see the turtles and flocks that live here.
Lake Kournas (or Kurna) - the only freshwater lake in Crete of natural origin and the main attraction of the Kavros-Georgioupolis district. Large (1080 by 880 meters) and deep (depth reaches 22 meters), the lake is filled with the clearest clear water, in which you can see fish, crabs and even turtles. On its shores there are taverns and souvenir shops, there is a rental point for catamarans. In the district in a large number live geese, which are actively fed good-natured tourists.
