Bali is a fishing village and a resort 25 km east of Rethymnon and 45 km west of Heraklion. Mountain slopes covered with a solid green carpet of plants, secluded coves with clear clear water, a noiseless atmosphere: all this characterizes Bali as a perfect place for a contemplative vacation surrounded by picturesque nature.

Transportation
Mimo Bali shuttle buses to Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania. From the road, where buses stop, to the village about 2 km, which will need to be overcome on foot. It is possible to drive them on a local tram, which is much faster and more convenient, considering the hilly terrain, but first you need to compare the timetables, and secondly, for unknown reasons, it does not always go.
The taxi arrives from Rethymnon or Heraklion, so expensive.
There are several car rental and scooter rental agencies in the settlement
Beaches of Bali
Bali has four main sandy beaches, all located in bays. The first of them (if you count from the route) is the largest and most open, in the windy weather there are quite strong waves. The second is less and calmer. The third is central, and the busiest. There is a small pier with fishermen's boats, tourist "pirate schooners" - boats on which excursions along the coast are conducted here.
The quietest bay, where in any weather there are no waves, is beyond the mountain cape to the right of the central beach. It is called Karavostasi, or Evita (by the name located on the shore of the hotel). This is the most secluded place of Bali, there is only one hotel and a couple of taverns. In the vicinity of the beach at the edge of the sea, several tiny coves with caves are hidden, which can be reached by swimming or by boat.
The absence of waves is a big plus of Bali's beaches, but be prepared for the fact that in high season (July-August) in the windy weather the beaches will be filled with holidaymakers and local ones from villages where the sea is not so calm.
Restaurants and shops
There are many souvenir shops in the village, there are also a couple of supermarkets.
In Bali, a large selection of traditional taverns, which are famous not only for wonderful cuisine, but also for large portions. "Panorama" - a tavern near the port is famous for its delicious dishes and a beautiful view.
In the tavern "Psaropoula" on the second beach deliciously prepare seafood. The tavern "Karavostasi" is located in the same name bay and is deservedly considered to be one of the best in the village. On the first beach there is a nice open-air tavern - Golden Sun, where banana trees grow right between tables.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Bali
For lovers of water activities, diving, canoe rental, and fishing are available. There is a disco.
Not far from here is the cave of Melidoni, or Gerondospilos. The entrance to the cave is at an altitude of 230 m above sea level. The main hall has impressive dimensions: 44 by 55 meters, the ceiling height varies from 10 to 25 meters. Quaintly hanging stalactites are illuminated with colored lights. The place is notorious for the tragedy of times of military conflict with the Turks. From March to October, the cave is open from 9.00 to 19.00. The admission ticket is € 3 (for April 2011).
