Therefore, if you like museums, in Paris have already seen everything you wanted, and you think where else to go - think about Strasbourg. A unique region of fusion of cultures, in villages still speak the old local language, except museums - a mass of ancient buildings (the center of Strasbourg is almost entirely included in the UNESCO World Heritage List), and the villages can be visited endlessly - some of them have not been rebuilt for more than 600 years. Well, the unique local cuisine and the best white wine in the world (this is not an opinion, it's an official status).
There are several large museums, but this is a remarkable collection of paintings, there are paintings by Claude Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Chagall, Picasso and many other famous artists. In the section of contemporary painting there are works by leading contemporary painters, and in the photos section - early photographs of the time of the photo's appearance.
The second museum of world significance is the Archaeological Museum, the second most important in France. The collection covers the period from 600 000 BC. e. before the 8th century AD. Another obligatory museum in any regional French center is the Museum of Fine Arts, and in Strasbourg it too is, and magnificent. Many wonderful artists are represented: Koro, Canaletto, Veronese, Courbet, Degas and many others.
There is also the Museum of Decorative Arts with an extensive collection of furniture and porcelain. There are some living things here too, but there are not many of them, but if you like furniture in the style of baroque or rococo later, you will find a lot of interesting things for yourself. With children it's good to go to Le Vaisseau - a large technical center-museum, in which there are a lot of interactive exhibits.
The most serious of them is the Musee de l'Oeuvre Notre-Dame, which contains exhibits dedicated to the construction of the cathedral city cathedral, and objects of fine and decorative arts in the Upper Rhine region. Another local museum is Musee alsacien, the Alsace Museum, dedicated to the history, culture and traditions of Alsace .This region, frankly speaking, is not entirely French now, so there are many bizarre local traditions here, this is a very bright museum .Most of the exhibits are everyday items of various ages .And with the history of Alsace you can learn more in the Historical Museum, here too a large collection .Another place that is suitable for visiting with children is the Rhine Navigation Museum, which is located on the ship and is dedicated to commercial shipping in the region .
Also in the city there is a whole complex of museums open at the local university. The university here is old - it was founded in the 16th century, therefore it has large meetings. The most famous part is the Pasteur Museum (it taught here, by the way) with a collection of medical curiosities, but there are also museums of zoology, mineralogy, Egyptology, gypsum and several exhibition complexes.
