From the west side to the Prague Degree Hradčany adjoins - a rich, noble district of Prague, which, however, was intended, at the base, in 1320 for the settlement of the palace servants - grooms, cooks, scribes and servants. After the fire of 1541, which destroyed the crappy, poor houses, the nobility chose these places for erecting their palaces and mansions and the district has since been considered a prestigious place to live.
