The history of China is about as long and ornate as the Chinese Wall, so it's hardly possible to clearly describe it in a nutshell. Some milestones can be identified, however, it is still possible.

China BC
The very first mention of China refers to the times of the ruler Fu Xi, who lived three thousand years before the beginning of our era. In written sources there is no direct mention of the rulers preceding the Shang Dynasty, therefore it is considered the ancestor of the history of China.
In the 220's, China, during the reign of the Zhou Dynasty, began to undergo constant attacks by barbarians, so it was decided to build huge walls for the protection of the territory - that is why the most famous landmark appeared in China.
Prosperity and wilting
Then comes the era of the reign of one of the most famous emperors in the history of China, Shi-Huang-di, who became the founder of the Qin Dynasty and united the Chinese empire. In the ensuing era of the Tang Dynasty, China's history reached its peak. China has become the most powerful and prosperous state in the world.
By the end of the 9th century neighboring countries began attacking the territory of China, and internal uprisings did not subside inside the country. As a result of the war with Japan, the empire weakened and diminished territorially, losing Korea, Taiwan and Pescadores.
Revolution in China
The revolutionary movement in China led to the fall of the Qing dynasty in 1911. At this time, the revolutionaries in Nanjing created their own government. Sun Yat-senbsh was proclaimed the first president on January 1, 1912, at about the same time General Yuan Shikai forced the Manchus to abdicate and proclaimed China a constitutional republic. The capital of the new state was Beijing.
After this, Yuan undertook several more attempts to become emperor, but he did not succeed. After his death in 1916, Japan stepped up, seized the province of Shandong and put forward the famous "twenty-one demands", which substantially reduced China's rights. In 1917, China became a participant in the First World War, mainly in the hope of recapturing lost territories a year earlier, but this failed.
In July 1921, the Chinese Communist Party was formed in Shanghai, one of whose leaders was Mao Zedong. The national government of Chiang Kai-shek, having defeated the provinces in the north of the country, also defeated the communist army of Shanghai. In Nanjing, a provisional nationalist government was created. President of the country in 1928 became Chiang Kai-shek.
October 1, 1949 Mao Zedong, defeating the troops of Chiang Kai-shek, proclaimed the formation of the People's Republic of China. It was necessary to restore the economy of the country.
And the present
Since 1977, Deng Xiaoping led the fraction of the moderate and began work on the program of "four modernizations", which was to strengthen industry, agriculture, science and defense. Since 1994, the national currency of China, the yuan, has acquired a solid policy. At the present time, China is a huge country with great economic, social and political prospects.
