What to see in York?

Answer information department of the "Touristic Tonights"
You can start your tour of York from its main attraction, the gothic cathedral York Minster, famous for its stained glass windows, the largest in Europe. Nearby are the picturesque ruins of the Benedictine Monastery of St Mary's Abbey. And in the territories that once belonged to the abbey, now stands the York Museum Gardens, which certainly deserves attention.

Lovers of medieval architecture should examine the ruins of the city's fortifications and the Clifford tower, which escaped from the York Castle. Be sure to visit the York Castle Museum, inside which are recreated the ancient streets, houses and even a prison. In the very town of these narrow snickelways there are enough, as well as old houses in the neighborhoods of Shambles Street

Reconstruction of an earlier period of York's history can be seen in another museum, the Jorvik Viking Center. But York Dungeon (York Dungeon) attraction is extremely tourist, although it is in demand, despite the gloom of the exposition. For those who prefer traditional museums, we recommend the Yorkshire Museum, the Railway Museum, the Art Gallery
