We are an unmarried elderly couple, citizens of different countries, adjacent to Turkey. We want to spend a week of rest in Istanbul. There are a few questions.

1. I am a Russian, I have never been to Turkey. Do I need a visa?

2. Is it necessary or desirable to confirm the reservation at the hotel?

3. What is a voucher and what is it for?

4. How to book a room for 2 people arriving from different countries, if for me the reservation is still required?

5. I've heard that Muslim countries do not allow people who are not married to stay in the same room. How are things going with this in Turkey, namely in Istanbul?

Answer Yaroslav Novikov, Kakadu
Istanbul is a good city, I'm sure that you will have a great rest! Plan the week wisely, try to go to Yalova and visit the Princes' Islands.

Further I answer the questions:

1. You do not need a visa. A valid passport is required.

2. No, it's not necessary. Do not forget the return ticket and medical insurance.

3. A voucher is a confirmation of the booking of services.

4. It does not matter who and where it comes from. The main name and surname of the visitors. Even if you visit the hotel separately, there will be no problems.

5. There are such hotels in Turkey, but to find them you need to know exactly where to go. Absolute majority of Istanbul hotels will be glad to welcome you.

I highly recommend to book a hotel in advance. Yes, on the spot to find no problem (if not high season), but I recommend all the same to make sure.

Have a good rest in Istanbul!

P.S. Be sure to eat fish on the Galata bridge across the Golden Horn, it is now very delicious
