Another look at vacation in Turkey
I have never seen such an "unpacked" Turkey . In Göcek town - what next to the more famous Fethiye - there are only enthusiastic tourists, more precisely, yachtsmen (they are easily recognized by a specific track from sunglasses on tanned faces), well, or brought by a fair wind, like me, for example . I was taken to Gocek by a business trip that now ranked first in the personal rating of an impressive way processions . And I came to a small turkish town to sail - to amateur regatta, which every autumn is organized by one of the Russian TV channels .
Tuned to a romantic mood - idyllic pictures with sails and the sea, I marvel at the marina: The regatta begins with "bytovuhi". Participants, 10 teams, in each up to 8 people, scurry back and forth with trolleys full of food (pre-tucked into a common piggy bank) and personal hygiene items. Captains of teams, who are called skippers, meticulously look at the charter boats they received, because they are responsible for them personally, and the pledge is not too long.
Finally, the boats are full of food and fueled . Let's start! Ahead of 6 racing days . I will not explain all the rules, but the point is simple: the yacht should be the first to reach the finish line according to the route specified by the judge in the morning . On the boat each member of the team performs his role: someone prepares dinner for all, (to catch the wind - the main goal and luck) . But in any case, everyone strictly obeys the skipper: he is the god on the yacht! He says: draw the teams or all to get on the starboard side - the team executes immediately . Although the regatta is amateur and there are always a lot of newcomers among the yachtsmen, everyone has come first to chase .
Already on the first day, understanding comes: regatta only from the shore it seems an elegant sport, in fact it is - hard work and nerves. Prepare for the fact that hands, even in special gloves, will be erased, it will be hot (without caps, glasses and cream, do not even board!) Or, conversely, very cold, sometimes dangerous - especially if the sea is sternly on this day (by boat to move only in special non-slip shoes!), will be tormented by sea sickness - especially she loves beginners.
Checked on itself: acupuncture bracelets and pills help a little. And it's better not to go down during the race to the cabin.
Superstition about a woman on a ship in yachting races - an outdated template. Representatives of the fair half of humanity here with men on an equal footing . And this is only the words "staysail", " mainsail "," cockpit "cut the tender hearing of the beginner: literally on the second day the language somehow itself gives out a" latrine "instead of a toilet, a" galley "instead of a kitchen, and" this rubber thing "becomes a fender, and you even know how it is applied at the command of the skipper . Special delight after a tense or, on the contrary, sluggish bezv the friction of the race - to dive in the open sea! This is a mandatory item after the finish . But in the marinas themselves, where yachts sleep, it is not recommended to swim: it's like walking on a busy road is bad for your health .
In general, adrenaline, excitement, team spirit, new friends, picturesque bays eventually win and convince. And next time, choosing Turkey for the next vacation, you are unlikely to want the notorious "all inclusive."
Moreover, as for the money of the regatta, it is not so expensive as it is customary to think. Information for consideration for those who are inspired and thinking about having a vacation on a yacht: to hire a boat for a week with the captain costs about 3000 EUR. This is for a company of 8 people - without food, fuel and duties for parking in bays. And participation in such an amateur regatta will cost about 2000 EUR per person, including air tickets from Moscow and food.
