Davos Routes

The slopes around Davos, which is called the highest mountain city in Europe, will not let you get bored. Although the two resorts are quite far apart, they have a common ski pass. The total number of tracks is 99, together they make an impressive 320 km. For some, from the top to the bottom of the valley, you can roll for ten kilometers without stopping.

In Davos - six separate areas of skiing. On one side of the valley are Pischa (Pischa, 2483 m), Jakobshorn (2590 m) and Rinerhorn (2490 m), on the other side are connected Parsenn with the upper point to Weissfluhgipfel (2844 m) and Gotschna (2285 m). Somewhat apart from Klosters, rises Madrisa (2602 m).

The main ski area is Parsen north of Davos and west of Klosters with the Weissfluh peak in the center. You can get there only in three ways: on the Parsernnban lifts from Davos-Dorf to the saddle at the top, Schatzalpban from Davos-Platz with a midway crossing and Gotshnagrat (2285 m) from Klosters to the ridge east of Weißflu. In different directions from Weissfluhjoch (Weissfluhjoch, 2662 m) there are different routes of medium complexity.

For strong athletes at the top, at Weissfluhgipfel (2844 m), there is a steep but short black section. From there you can also go down the risky and poorly researched route Gotchnavang, where in 1988 an adjutant of Prince Charles died under the avalanche. Trails near Wolfgang (1631 m) are very difficult when there is little snow. The exception is three routes running along the southern edge of the Strela sector (Strela) and routes from Gotschnagrat to Klosters.

Pisz and Reinerhorn are relatively small skiing areas: one cab lift and a few bugles. Jakobshorn is more interesting, the routes there are more diverse.

Moreover, Davos also has excellent conditions for lovers of luge sports: Shatzalp - 8, 5 km of trails with a lift; Rinerhorn - 3, 5 km of trails and Wiesen - 2 km.

Snowboarding in Davos

Davos is known as the "Swiss capital of snowboarding": it has six fan-parks open at once. Two of them are equipped on the slopes of the so-called "Funny Mountain" Fun Mountain. There are also two half pipes, springboards, tables and other fun for fans of freestyle. Another half-pipe is located at the lift "Bolgen", fan-park - near the ski lift "Yatz Junior" in the zone of Jacobshorn, fan-parks are in the area of ​​Rinerhorn, at the height of Pisz and at the Glattaggen lift in the area of ​​Madrid.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Davos

The main attraction of Davos is the museum of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the German expressionist. It is remarkable both the building itself and the collection of paintings. Among the local museums, the Winter Sport Museum, the Museum of Local Lore, the Toy Museum and the Grisons Mining Museum are also of interest.

Also at the resort you can visit the International Center and a sports complex - a sample of modern architecture, where the largest natural ice rink in Europe is equipped. And the local church of John the Baptist (15th century) is famous for the altar stained glass windows of Giacometti.

In Davos, there is a sports center where you can figure skating or play hockey in a special ice stadium. There are organized paraglider flights and descents on toboggan. In addition: swimming pools, curling, tennis, squash, riding school.
