Maslenitsa in Switzerland turns into a grand carnival in Lucerne, in scope and brilliance second only to the Brazilian and recognized as one of the most outstanding festivals in Europe .A noisy party with dances, songs, costumes and fireworks attracts all people from small to large .Preparation for carnival takes many months, and children participate in making costumes on a par with adults .The solemn procession is not complete without the performance of Guggenmusigen - carnival music groups - each of which has its own anthem and flag .Celebrations are stretched for a week and traditionally end with a well-known parade of monsters .
No less impressive Bernese carnival comes in late February and attracts many guests and participants to the capital every year. The celebration begins with an ancient rite: a bear is released from the prison tower - a symbol of triumph - after which the streets of the city are flooded with crowds of dressed people, passing a solemn march to rhythmic music, and confetti strewing from above. Children have their own concert program, and the festival ends with a big theatrical performance.
Closer to the beginning of March comes the third carnival - Basel, which combines noisy festivities and ancient traditions. To the festive processions only members of the "cliques" - carnival-musical unions - who have submitted applications in advance are admitted. It is characteristic of a strict division of participants and spectators. Carnival opens with a procession with lanterns and lasts exactly 72 hours. Guests are invited to an exhibition of lanterns, concerts of fake music and satirical performances.
On May Day, the menu of Swiss restaurants is replenished with unique dishes, for women, free transportation is provided in public transport. The summer in Switzerland is filled with charming music - this is the time of a two-week jazz festival in Montreux, which, however, sounds works of all directions, as well as the festival of classical music in Verbier, also lasts two weeks.
On August 1, the Day of Confederation is celebrated with a grand scale - the national holiday of Switzerland. The holiday can not do without fireworks, concerts and traditional fires, lit on the tops of the mountains since the Middle Ages. The last weekend of September is the famous wine festival, timed to harvest the grapes.
