Tell me, please, we arrive in Colombo and break the head where and how best to rent a car? Book in advance or on arrival? And what are the prices for cars?

Answer by Alexey Novikov, My Lanka
I would not advise to go driving independently in Sri Lanka. There are several reasons for this:

1. In the center of the country there are not always signs in English.

2. The local population in the center of the country does not particularly speak English, so the likelihood that you will be helped if you get lost is minimal.

3. Google Maps works of course, but not always right.

4. The movement is quite active. Those who did not experience driving with the right-hand drive on narrow tracks will be extremely difficult.

5. Saving compared to just taking a car + paying for gasoline or taking a car with a driver who knows the way, speaks Sinhalese, knows where to stop better, washes and cleans the car and, in the end, gives you the opportunity to rest - is on the order of $ 20 per day
