The national carrier plans to purchase two water planes with a capacity of 15 people. This type of flight can not be complemented by the lack of an existing local communication, as there are not enough airfields in Sri Lanka, but a huge number of rivers and lakes that can be used for landing the aircraft. The market dictates a great demand for this type of flight both among foreign tourists and local residents.
The air taxi operated successfully in Sri Lanka until June 2007, when due to the aggravation of internal conflict and restrictions on the use of airspace over the island closed. The airline is also planning to fly from Colombo, which will allow citizens and travelers to get to the international airport faster.
The air taxi will fly from Lake Beira to Colombo, Negombo, Castleray, Tissamaharam and Arugam Bay to places like Kandy, Bentota, Nuwara Eliya, Halle, Ampara, Trincomalee, Dambula, Dikvela. Tourists will also be able to make excursions, sightseeing flights over the country on the basis of a regular flight schedule in the near future.
