During the long history of Spain, many great people lived in her, but perhaps none of them was as famous as the world-wide fame and recognition of the inimitable Salvador Dali. The name of the great surrealist is synonymous with such words as shocking, ambitious, conceited, and, of course, genius.
There are several places in Spain that preserve the memory of the glory of this extraordinary personality. These three cities in Catalonia: in which he was born, lived and loved - Figueras, Cadaques and Pobol.
Childhood
Like all geniuses, Dali was strange, even very strange . His eccentricities and dissimilarity in others were manifested since early childhood . El Salvador was the third child in a very wealthy family of a notary, he was born in 1904 in Catalonia in the small town of Figueres . This city was fairly well known and before his birth - it was here that the Franco Franco regime took over bloody civil war, and in addition there was invented ne tearing the world's submarine and was one of the best museums of toys . But world fame Figueres only healed thanks to Salvador Dali and his unusual theater-museum . In general, the artist himself repeatedly stressed that he is a Catalan and was very proud .
It is safe to say that Dali was a difficult child, from the earliest childhood he began to persistently shock the public, and tried to do everything contrary to established norms and rules. He always sought his way, even if it was necessary to roll a grand scandal for this. Once for him, they even opened a confectioner's shop during the siesta, at a time that was immutable for all Spaniards, just because little El Salvador wanted sweets.
Yunost
Naturally, all the other children were treated with extreme incomprehension to his eccentric antics, and did not take him into his team, in response he tried to further oppose himself to the others . He managed to find like-minded people only in the years of his youth when he entered the art academy of Saint Fernando . There he acquired his friends, of whom he considered Frederick Garcia Lorca, and joined the surrealist group . From the academy, however, very soon he was expelled for neglecting the authority of teachers . But this only benefited him, because then he went to Paris, where he met with no less brilliant artist Pablo Picasso, who had an unquestionable influence on the early work of Dali . But, more importantly, it was then that in the capital of all lovers he met his only big and passionate love Gala, who not only became his muse, but and in every possible way in the image contributed to the commercial success of his work .
Blossoming
In 1936, for ideological reasons, he left the surrealists, stating to them at last that he was surreal. After that, he settled in a small coastal town of Cadaqués, where he lived for almost half a century. He settled right on the shores of the Mediterranean in a fishing hut, which he modified in his own way, and in which, according to the artist himself, there was the easternmost point of the country, which enabled him to be the first in Spain to meet the dawn.
Another Spanish city, directly connected with the name of Salvador Dalí, was Puubol, where the castle that he had bought was, which was his wife's favorite place. It was there that he lived his last few years, in the throes of longing for the beloved and Parkinson's disease.
Places associated with Dali
In general, Dali is one of the main symbols of Spain, and undoubtedly confirmed by hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world who visit his theater and museum every year .There, however, there really is something to see .The museum itself is located in the center of Figueres in Gala square and Dali, in the building of the old theater, in which the artist watched performances as a child, and which was turned into ruins during the civil war .This is a very unusual museum, in which the artist's unrestrained imagination fully manifested itself .Every detail here is unusual and has very deep symbolism, which the author did not bother deciphering, giving viewers room for reasoning .
In this museum you will not find any inscriptions or explanations - but they are not necessary, all the exhibits speak for themselves .Here you can find not only paintings, but also collages, sculptures and various installations that have become the fruit of the author's stormy fantasy and personification of his paradoxical and rich inner world .On the roof of the museum there are huge eggs, the windows of one of the halls have the shape of human eyes, and in the building there is a fireplace in the form of a huge nose and a famous sofa repeating the outlines of the female lips .Another exhibit attracting everyone's attention was an installation called "Rainy Taxi" .
But the main attraction of the museum can be considered the body of Salvador Dalí himself, immured under the slabs of the patio - the artist has always really wanted people to walk on his grave.
