Two historical Korean villages, founded in the XIII-XIV centuries, are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as monuments of Confucian culture.

These are the villages of Hakhve in Andone, Gyeongsangnam-do Province and Yandon in Gyeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, where the noble families of the Joseon Dynasty lived. The decision of the 34th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which is held in Brazil, also notes that the villages are surrounded by a picturesque natural landscape, described by medieval poets. The villages of Hahoe and Yandon became the tenth natural and cultural monument on the territory of the Republic of Korea inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
