Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a new nature reserve that was opened in May 2000 by mutual agreement between South Africa and Botswana, which united the Kalahari-Gemsbok park.
For the most part, the park is a protected area of the southern part of the Kalahari Desert: The natural conditions here are very harsh, and the struggle for survival is boiling in earnest. The main inhabitants of the reserve are hundreds of antelopes, birds of prey, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Almost all African fauna is represented here except for elephants, giraffes and zebras
The park is divided into several large zones, the communication between which is possible only for all-wheel drive (4x4) cars. The South African part of the park is wedged between the Nossob rivers (Nossob, "dark mud") and Auob ("bitter water") The ancient tribes of the mirs and khomani live in the park to this day
