Add a review about Newgve National Park

The Newgve National Park is located in the southeast of Rwanda, at the very border with Burundi (in fact, it goes to the Burundian national park of Kibera). It covers an area of 1000 km2. and is one of the last places in Africa, where virgin mountain rain forests of medium height (1600 to 2000 m.), whose age is hundreds of thousands of years, grow. The rainfalls in the forests of Newgve give life to the two largest African rivers: the eastern slopes feed the Nile, and the western ones - the Congo.

The unique significance of Newgve is that it is one of the few areas of the continent that has remained green throughout the glacial period and served as a refuge for numerous animal species, most of which are endemic, that is, not found anywhere else on the planet.

The unique value of Newgve is that it is one of the few areas of the continent that has remained green throughout the glacial period and has served as a refuge for numerous animal species, most of which are endemic.

In the territory of the National Park of Newgve, there are 13 species of primates, more than 300 species of birds, numerous reptiles and other mammals. No less diverse and the local flora - about 200 species of trees, tropical flowers and beautiful orchids (as many as 140 varieties!). Among all this splendor, colorful butterflies flutter.

Among the highlights of the national park is the system of suspension bridges, opened in October 2010, which allows to pass literally over the crowns of tropical trees and observe the animal world of the upper layers of the forest at a distance of several meters.

In the park there is an extensive network of convenient walking trails and several places where you can spend the night: from camping to a luxurious "five" with all conveniences.
