In this ancient village there is a great shrine of the Russian Orthodox Church, revered by the believers as "the fourth and last destiny of the Mother of God on earth."
Everything here is imbued with a spirit of holiness and unearthly divine bliss that are reinforced by the sincere faith of pilgrims who come to touch the miraculous relics of the great the Russian elder - St. Seraphim of Sarov.
Not far from Diveevo, where the closed city of Sarov is now located (also a local attraction, but of a different plan), there was once the legendary Sarov Kaya desert, where for 55 years Seraphim of Sarov bear hardships of the way of spiritual development and monastic life: in seclusion, silence, solitude, and pillar-dwelling. And, as evidenced by religious documents, for his spiritual path he received from the Lord the gift of wisdom and healing.
With the exit from the gate in 1825 the Monk Seraphim of Sarov became the guardian of the women's monastery in Diveevo. At the same time he was a phenomenon of the Mother of God, after which Seraphim of Sarov ordered to dig a groove around the monastery. St. Seraphim explained the meaning of this command: "Here you are Afon, and Jerusalem, and Kiev."
Once a small women's monastery, now - the richest architectural complex, where many pilgrims come to worship the relics of Seraphim of Sarov, to visit temples , walk along the Holy Canal and swim in the holy springs of Diveevo.
