Attractions Marfino
The central part of the Marfinsky ensemble is a two-story brick palace, towering on a hill. In front of the palace there is a huge pond, to which a white stone staircase descends, ending with a cast-iron fountain with a pier, decorated with stone sculptures of griffins. Around the pond are the main buildings of the manor - the bridge that functions as the front entrance, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and the Peter and Paul Church, a park with pavilions.
Church of the Nativity of the Virgin was built by the architect Vladimir Ivanovich Belozerov, whose grave, immortalized by a tombstone, is located nearby. Near the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos there is the Peter and Paul Church (winter) church, built at the Saltykovs.
Park gazebos are represented by a half-rounder, built of white stone and previously served as the "Music Pavilion", and a two-tier rotunda "Milovid." A brick bridge leading through a pond, with its turrets, jagged ridges and loopholes reminds a fortress structure. Originally built in the 1770s under the Saltykovs, the bridge was significantly rebuilt in 1837-1839 by the architect Bykovsky.
