Kashira is an old town on the banks of the Oka River in the Moscow region, on the one hand, as if frozen in the distant past, which is reminded of numerous churches and cathedrals, and on the other - closely intertwined with the Soviet period. Buildings in the style of constructivism, the mass of Kashirskaya GRES named after Krzhizhanovsky on the outskirts, mosaics with the image of the proletarians and, to top it off, the sculpture of Lenin create the image of another Kashira, one that has nothing to do with the history of Ancient Rus and the Moscow princes.

History and culture
The first traces of human presence in this area date back to the 7th-4th centuries BC. e. Kashirskoye ancient settlement - the oldest settlement of the Diakovo culture, which belongs to the early Iron Age. Its representatives lived in the territories of the Moscow, Tver, Vologda and other regions. The first mention of Kashira can be found in the documents of the 14th century, in the spiritual literacy of the son of the Moscow ruler Ivan Kalita. The war, Tatars raids, plague epidemics led to the fact that the city was abandoned, and in 1619 built again, on the right bank of the Oka.
However, these were not the latest changes in the structure of the city. In the Soviet period, thanks to the construction of a railway linking Moscow to Kashira, and the state district power station, Novokashirsk, a small town, a staff member serving the station, and part of the area connected with the railway were included in the structure.

Areas
Kashira-1 or Old Kashira - the territory on the left bank of the Oka, Kashira-2 - the right bank of the Oka, Kashira-Passazhirskaya - the railway station and the adjacent territories and Kashira-3 - "sleeping" microdistricts, with the amusing nickname "grandfather's hillock". From the point of view of sightseeing and acquaintance with the natural landscape, only two districts are interesting: Old Kashira and Kashira-2.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions
To come to Kashira, first of all, stands to the worshipers of religious architecture .The wonderful Uspensky Cathedral (Cathedral of the Success of the Blessed Virgin) on Cathedral Square, built in Empire style in the 19th century; Nikitsky nunnery, from which only two buildings have survived to this day - the Nikitsky temple and the Transfiguration of the Savior; The Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin in the Temple or the Vvedenskaya Church on Torgovaya Ploschad (formerly called Khlebnaya Square), built in the 19th century, the Church of St. Nicholas Ratny and the Belopesok Monastery constitute the cultural treasure of the city .
Unfortunately, there are almost no museums in the city, except for two local lore museums. But the residential development of the 19th century was preserved. Fans of constructivism and Soviet architecture should pay attention to the building of the cinema of the 30s. The city school in the Art Nouveau style will recall the beginning of the 20th century and the upcoming revolutionary events.
