Kolomenskoye was once a royal residence and fiefdom, and today it is the most beautiful monument of history and culture with a vast territory of 390 hectares in the united Moscow State Museum- reserve. In the southeast the park faces the embankment of the Moskva River, from the pier the pleasure boats leave. Most of the territory is untouched nature: a forest, a ravine, a hill, a descent to the river, but a lot of historical and architectural sights.

Excursion and art programs in Kolomenskoye include theatrical performances, a meeting with bread and salt, a tea party with pancakes, horseback riding and other amusements. Large-scale folk festivities take place on Shrove-tide and Christmas, but on a normal day it's nice to just wander around.

The temple is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is jointly managed by the church and the museum. In the lower floor, a permanent exposition has been set up.

It's wonderful to visit in Kolomenskoye spring, when the blossoming apple orchards create a unique atmosphere of beauty and aroma. It is wonderful to walk here on a nice summer day, because, illuminated by bright sunlight, the ancient buildings of the temples and palaces of the former royal estate are especially attractive for external inspection.
After some break, having arrived here in the summer of 2013, I accidentally looked at the map-scheme of the museum-reserve and saw many new opened sights.
However, realizing ... Read the whole review
