GUM is one of the most famous department stores not only in Russia, but in the entire post-Soviet space. This is not only a fashionable shopping and entertainment complex, it is a real art object, besides, it is both an internal content of GUM and its external appearance. The building made in the pseudo-Russian style became the same symbol of Russia as St. Basil's Cathedral or the Kremlin.

It was from GUM that Levitan was given a joyful message about the victory on May 9, 1945.

Despite the fact that the shopping arcade was often burned before the GUM building was built, the fire of 1812 bypassed the market, which still surprises historians.
