Gorky Park is one of the most popular parks in the capital and the oldest in Russia park of culture and recreation. It was founded in 1928 on the territory, arranged five years earlier for the first All-Russian Exhibition of Agriculture. The main architect was A. V. Vlasov, who prepared the redevelopment project. Entrances to the park were made in the form of the Triumphal Gates, over 60 species of trees were planted on the territory, a fountain was erected in the center of the park zone; The pavilions left from the exhibition were also adapted to the needs of the park.

The territory stretched along the riverbed for 7 km - a wide promenade, a beautifully designed descent to the water and a pier became another important element in the structure of the park. In the name of Maxim Gorky the park was named later, in 1932.

In the 30 years in Moscow everywhere there was a construction, metro stations were built, people from the province came to the capital who lived in hostels .Against the backdrop of the general construction of a "bright future," Gorky Park looked like a place in which this future has already come .It was a city in miniature with its own police, fire department, medical station, mail and savings bank .Soviet people enjoyed spending their free time here: skating on unpretentious attractions, under the guidance of mass-entertainers, they learned songs and dances, took part in joke competitions, watched the performances of amateur groups on the stage of the Green Theater, rode around the pond on boats and just rested, greens and flower beds .

The newest story

In the period from the early 90s to 2010, .park them .Gorky turned into a place without a certain concept and ideology, but still extremely popular .A huge number of attractions attracted children of all ages, adults were offered catering with plastic tables, pop music from the speakers at street cafes, rock concerts were held in the open air, for the noisy celebration of the Airborne Day, the park was chosen by the guys in blue berets .It was muffled, but generally fun, the river again nearby, you can ride on the boat or just sit on a bench .In 2011, there was a large-scale reconstruction - and the park was simply a feast for the eyes! They canceled the entrance fee; The amusement rides and cafes were dismantled, working, as it turned out, on illegal grounds; During the whole summer, everyone could attend free dance lessons and yoga and fitness classes; bicycle and bicycle rental offices have earned .In the Golitsynsky Pond, 400 kg of fish were released, the park was provided with free Wi-Fi, and already in the near future they promised to put tennis tables and equip basketball courts .The new olive beach with wooden flooring has harmoniously blended in, although it has nothing to do with the reconstruction .Sunbathe for free, though, will not work, renting a deckchair and towels for the whole day will cost 600 rubles ., a pass to the beach is also served at the cafe Olive Beach .

Rest in anew in Gorky Park

According to the new administration, Gorky Park should become a modern city park like Central Park in New York, where everyone can come simply to have a picnic right on the lawn, or work on a laptop, sitting comfortably on padded stools and hammocks .There is already a wooden beach on the territory with decking for sunbathing and cabins with a shower .During the whole summer there were free dance lessons, yoga classes and fitness .But it will still be! Promise and tennis, and basketball, and bicycle rental .

The main danger of these changes, perhaps, is only that excessive diligence and following modern fashion trends can turn the park into an excessively glamorous place, where only conceptual youth will be drawn, ready to beat the buckets and drink cocktails for unthinkable money in any new fashionable place, and be a place for family recreation park will stop. Well, wait and see.

The Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure in Moscow is the oldest and most popular park in the Russian capital, so if you come to rest in Moscow, then please take the time to visit. Here you will find a lot of entertaining attractions, cozy cafes, beautiful places for photographing, fountains, etc. Unfortunately, the first time I visited Moscow in January 2012, but in the winter time the park does not work, and I had to postpone the walk until the summer of 2013, when I again arrived ...
