Responsible information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
City Day in the capital of Russia is celebrated in the first weekend of September. In 2012, they fall on September 1 and 2, and in the current 2011 red days of the calendar were September 3 and 4.

The main celebrations usually take place on Saturday, and on Sunday a traditional sports festival dedicated to Moscow is held. The program of these two days includes numerous concerts, festivals, contests, theatrical performances, costumed processions and mandatory final fireworks. If the date of the main events coincides with September 3 (the date of the Solidarity Day in the fight against terrorism), then all of them are transferred to Sunday.

The celebration of the Day of Moscow became annual only in 1997, before that solemn events in his honor were held in 1847 and 1947 year. Then the capital was executed 700 and 800 years respectively, because the first mention of the city was officially documented in 1147.
