History of Pskov
The first written mentions of the Pskov region (modern Pskov) date back to 903, and according to archaeological excavations the first Slavic settlement on the territory of the Pskov Kremlin existed already in the 9th century. From 10 to the beginning of the 12th century Pskov was part of the Old Russian state, and later - in the Novgorod land. Officially the Pskov branch from Novgorod occurred only in 1348 under the terms of the Bolotov Treaty - then Pskov becomes the capital of the Pskov Veche Republic.
In 1510, Pskov became part of the Moscow. The State, which in 1521 became a single Russian principality.
The Pskov fortress (the present Pskov Kremlin) played an important role in the Livonian War, whereas during the Second World War the city suffered a great deal. In 1944, Pskov became the center of the Pskov region, and in 2010 received the title of "City of military glory."

The Kremlin (Krom) is located on the arrow of the Velikaya and Pskov rivers and consists of two parts: an inner fortress with the Trinity Cathedral and Vecheva Square and the outer one, where Dovmontov is located.
The inner fortress is the oldest part of the city. In the northern "corner" of the wall from the tower Kutekroma (1400), the covered galleries go down to Pskov to the Flat Tower (16th century). In the center of the Kremlin is the Trinity Cathedral (1682-1699) and the bell tower of the 18th century.
From Dovmontova city at present only the foundations of temples are preserved. The only historic building is the Chamber of Chambers (1695) with a restored high porch. Inside - an exposition of the museum-reserve: on the first floor - "Pskov in the years of the Northern War", on the second the interior of the Chamber of the Chambers was restored. In the fortress wall overlooking the Great, there is the Vlasyevskaya Tower (14th century).

Snetogorsky Monastery
The Snegogorsky Monastery in the name of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, founded in the 13th century on the summit of Mount Snyatnoy in the bend of the Velikaya River, is today one of the oldest Pskov monasteries.
The architectural ensemble of the monastery is represented by the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin and the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In addition, on the territory of the monastery, the ruins of the so-called "Snetogorsky candle" or "Snetogorsky pillar" (due to their huge height of 63 m) - the bell tower with the church of the Ascension of the Lord are preserved.
Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin was built in 1311 in the likeness of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Mirozhsky Monastery and is famous for its frescoes, which are a monument of ancient Russian monumental painting. The Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1512, and now it is the only functioning temple in the monastery.
