Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Arzamas
Being a small town, Arzamas is famous for the quantity, quality and size of its temples. Either the townspeople were rich and generous, or something else for that reason, but the churches in the city, without exaggeration, are simply magnificent.
The Savior-Transfiguration Monastery was founded in 1555. It is here that the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, especially revered by Orthodox people, is kept, famous for its miracle work. There is a monastery in the Archnish town.
The church of the Nativity of Christ was built at the expense of the merchant A.Ya. Zayashnikov. The building had a place from 1845 to 1852, designed by the architect K. Ton. Surprisingly beautiful decorative decoration of the facade, harmony and harmony of all elements of the structure, made this church a model of temple construction and one of the most beautiful in the city. At the moment the church is being restored, but the facade decoration is much simplified. There is a church on Rozhdestvenskaya street.
Four versts from the city, in the village of High Mountain, there is the Vysokogorsky Ascension Monastery. The monastery was founded in 1716, in 1735, due to frequent attacks by robber people, the monks abandoned it, and in 1743 they returned again.
Nikolsky Women's Monastery was founded in the late 16th century, laid it in the heart of the city, on Cathedral Square. In the middle of the 19th century a new fishery was born in the monastery: nuns woven multi-colored wool patterned boots and boots, which very quickly became desirable for fashionistas of the city: the monastery was literally filled up with orders, but the number did not decrease. There were no other fashionistas left except to learn this needlework.
The Church of the icon "The Life-giving Spring", the Smolensk Church, the Tikhvin Church, the Resurrection Cathedral, the Alekseevsky Novodevichy Convent, the Resurrection Cathedral and other numerous beautiful churches were built in Arzamas in different years and are still a real adornment of the city and its pride.
Arzamas architecture
The living rooms built at the end of the 18th century (Gostiny Dvor, 1-33), the Uyezd archive of the year 1759 (Sobornaya Square, 15), the Town Hall erected in the middle of the 18th century (Sobornaya sq., 1) and other civil constructions were perfectly preserved until our days and are used as premises for museums, authorities, schools, shops, cafes. For example, in the building of the Provincial Chancellery (Verkhnaya Embankment, 10) today is the Arzamas Orthodox Gymnasium named after the Holy Martyrs of Faith, Hope, Lyubov and their mother Sofia.
