The international airport of Volgograd is called Gumrak - as well as the residential area in which it is located. The aviation company was founded in Stalingrad in 1933, Gumrak appeared in the 1950s on the basis of a military airfield.
For today it is not the most modern airport in Russia, as it does not have large resources. However, in the near future the situation should change for the better. The upcoming World Cup in 2018, of course, will breathe new life into Gumrak.
How to get here
Between the airport and the city center, a bus and shuttle buses run. Bus number 6a will take you to the stop "Tech. college". Marshrutka No. 6 travels along the route Airport - Kassy "Aeroflot". Marshrutka No. 6K rides to the stop "Kosmonavtov street", No. 80a - to the Yubileiny cinema.
Near the airport there are car parks.
Services
In Gumrak, passengers can use the most necessary services. There are ATMs, self-service terminals, post office, health center, cafe, car rental, VIP-sector, free Wi-Fi network. Directly on the territory of the airport is the hotel.
In the coming years, Gumrak plans to actively develop the infrastructure. By 2018 new passenger terminals will be built here and the airport complex will be completely reconstructed.
