Officially, the Day of Pskov is July 23. On this day in 1944 the city was liberated from the Nazi invaders. Celebrations continue on July 24, in the name day of Princess Olga, during the reign of which Pskov from the settlement turned into a large flourishing city.

Holiday events usually take place in the nearest weekend to the date of the City Day. In 2012 it is the 21st and 22nd of July. The culmination of celebrations will be on Saturday, July 21. One of the main events of the holiday will be a theatrical reconstruction of the crossing of the river Velikaya.

In addition, the city will host various competitions, festivals (including the fishing festival "Pskov's ear"), concerts, craft fair, flower exhibition, etc. Places of events will include Victory Square, Lenin, Oktyabrskaya, Children's Park, Dovmontov city, embankment the Great River.
