The legendary Malakhov Kurgan is a strategically important height to the south-east of Sevastopol on the ship's side. This place was glorified twice: the heroic defense of the Russian troops during the Crimean War against the Anglo-French troops in 1854-1855. and Soviet troops in 1942 during the Great Patriotic War against the Nazi invaders. What to see
At the top of the mound there is a defensive tower - one of the few fortifications in the mid-19th century that survived in Sevastopol. Since the beginning of the 1960s, a branch of the museum "Heroic Defense and Liberation of Sevastopol" has been located here and the eternal fire is burning
All along the Malakhov Hill there are memorial cast-iron plates with the inscriptions: "Battery No. 18 Panfirov", "Battery No. 28 Stanislavsky" "Battery No. 84 Nikiforov." On the ground Senyavin batteries and anti-storm, as in the first defense, there are guns. Not far from them you can see 130-mm guns, similar to those that stood here in 1941-1942.
Malakhov burial mound in the greenery of the park, which was planted after the Great Patriotic War. The main alley of the park is called Avenue of Friendship, the trees here have been planted by various heads of delegations of foreign countries, members of the Soviet government, cosmonauts, in particular: Voroshilov, Gagarin, Ho Chi Minh and others.
