The skiing season opened in the ski resort of Sochi. The lifts began their work on December 20, 2014, despite the absence of snow. Currently, only the peaks have covered with snow, snow is still not enough for snowmobiles. Weather forecasters forecast a cold snap and snowfall on December 23.

The opening ceremony of the season started at the resort of Gorki City, where tourists had an opportunity to talk with Santa Claus. Later, a motorcade of retro cars started from Krasnaya Polyana, which arrived at the resort of Rosa Khutor, where a holiday concert was waiting for tourists.

Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov said that in the current winter season more than 1 million tourists are waiting for the ski resorts, which will stop both in the mountains and on the coast.

Recall, the start of the ski season was postponed several times: originally the resort was preparing to welcome winter sports fans on December 12. Going to the ski resorts of Sochi, tourists should remember that the cost of lifts on Rosa Khutor has been significantly increased: from 1850 RUB to 2650 RUB.
